I’m addicted to iPhoneography

I’m not new to the iPhone. Was an owner for iPhone 2G only for couple of days but retrieve back to my BlackBerry because that time I’m a crackberry addict.

I waited till iPhone 4 to give it a try and once it was launched, straight away I purchased it. Testing few photography apps, I’m hook with one application called Instagram. It’s one of the best app in iPhone and one of the reason I get hook with it. It’s good for social networking where you can have followers and also you can start to follow anyone that you admire their work. But after a while I stop shooting using the iPhone because I prefer using my LX3 which for sure give me better optical performance.

After few months I realized carrying the LX3 just for some weekend outing with the family also troublesome especially you need to make sure you have enough battery power. At the same time I realized my composition totally sucks. I really need to get back to the basic and I believe the iPhone can help me since it’s always with me.

So I did some research for other camera app and came across this app called camera+ which highly recommended by lots of professional photographers. It even designed by a professional photographer name Lisa Bettany. So I decided to purchased it and give it a try. To my amazement, this app totally change my whole perspective in iPhone photography.

Now a new words already installed in my dictionary… ‘iPhoneography’. Sounds a bit funny is it, but this is the term for hard core iPhone photographers and to my amazement when I google, I saw a website called iphoneography which only dedicated for this group of people. Yeah!!! now I’m one of them and for those who want to view my iPhoneography collection, you may go to my flickr album and also my instagram collection…. Thanks for viewing :)

Reporting from Bapak Aku Punya Studio

Bapak Aku Punya‘… first time I heard that name I totally laughed at it… very catchy…hehehe. Who are they?  Taken from their facebook page- ‘Bapak Aku Punya ™ is people brand started in the early 2010 by Matjepp. The Sempoi Statement derived from it. Branding for the mass from the masses‘. If you ask me I can say they are a team involves with video production, still photo and training. They educating the industry through their workshop which they run under their Hdslr ASIA page.

Anyway back to Bapak Aku Punya, first time I met the owner MatJepp was at Ted Adnan Lighting Seminar. He overheard me talking about technique of capturing audio to one of the attendee and  after that we had a great chat about audio quality nowadays produced by some people shooting with DSLR. From one topic to another topic we discussed what can I say, I’m still an audio guy so I brought back the topic of audio to our discussion.

Fast forward, few days after that I was at Bapak Aku Punya studio with a RODE VideoMic Pro on my hand to let MatJepp and his crew to totally abuse it. We setup the RODE on top of  Canon 7D with another camera Canon 5D mkII using Zoom H4N to capture audio. Their setup is simple but if you understand audio, every wiring and configuration there’s a logic behind it. Few enemies when you capture audio that you need to avoid such as grounding, interference, hissing, popping were well taken care of. I’m totally impressed  with their work very professional and very fast. They started around 9.30pm and wrapped around 11.30, that’s fast for a total of more than 5 episodes of their program contents.

Talking about contents… most of Bapak Aku Punya contents are streaming through the web via 1Tube website. It is a local website which promote lots of local talents… from comedy, music, bloggers, etc… You can say it is like youtube but with local favor. Hope one day I can visit their place and do a coverage for it :) . For Bapak Aku Punya channel currently their contents consist of series by MatJeppTed Adnan and Napie Moksin. They also famous with their number 1 hit production, a music video called ‘Aku Bukan Lagenda‘. At the same time if you turn out to become their fan you can also go to their online store and get yourself Bapak Aku Punya merchandise :) .

I would like to thank MatJepp and his crew for the opportunity and can’t wait for the result of audio captured with the RODE VideoMic Pro. With MatJepp consent I was also allowed to capture some of the behind the scene shots during the recording and thank you for your help and support ‘Bapak Aku Punya’ :) .
